Clergy appointments announced for Diocese of Charlottetown 2018 for churches across P.E.I.

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Diocese of Charlottetown has announced its clergy appointments for the coming year. These appointments are effective June 21.

The appointments include:

Rev. Floyd Gallant, presently rector of St. Dunstan’s Basilica, Charlottetown; to retirement.

Rev. Brendon Gallant, presently pastor of St. Simon & St. Jude Parish, Tignish; to retirement.

Rev. John Molina, presently chancellor, associate judicial vicar, and pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Cornwall; St. Anne’s Parish, Emyvale; and St. Martin of Tours Parish, Cumberland; while retaining the position of associate judicial vicar, appointed pastor of St. Simon & St. Jude Parish, Tignish.

Rev. Doug MacDonald, presently pastor of St. Malachy’s Parish, Kinkora; St. Peter’s Parish, Seven Mile Bay; and St. Joseph’s Parish, Kelly’s Cross; appointed pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Cornwall; St. Anne’s Parish, Emyvale; and St. Martin of Tours Parish, Cumberland.

Rev. Ashok Veerabathina, presently associate pastor at St. Paul’s Parish, Summerside; appointed pastor of St. Malachy’s Parish, Kinkora; St. Peter’s Parish, Seven Mile Bay; and St. Joseph’s Parish, Kelly’s Cross.

Rev. Ignacimuthu (Ignatius) Sebastian, appointed associate pastor of St. Paul’s Parish, Summerside.

Rev. Gerard Chaisson, presently pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Montague; St. Michael’s Parish, Iona; and St. Paul’s Parish, Sturgeon; granted a sabbatical from June 21 to Dec. 21.

Rev. Raju Chebattina, presently associate pastor at St. Mary’s Parish, Souris; St. Columba Parish, Fairfield; St. Margaret’s Parish; and St. Charles Parish; appointed pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Montague; St. Michael’s Parish, Iona; and St. Paul’s Parish, Sturgeon.

Rev. Joseph Maddala, presently resident at Holy Redeemer Parish, Charlottetown; appointed associate pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Souris; St. Columba Parish, Fairfield; St. Margaret’s Parish; and St. Charles Parish.

Rev. Augustine Ignasimuthu, in addition to his current responsibilities is appointed diocesan director of vocations.

Gerald Gabriel, presently executive secretary to the bishop, appointed chancellor of the Diocese of Charlottetown.

Walter Flynn, presently a diocesan seminarian, as part of his Priestly Formation Program will conduct his internship year at St. Simon & St. Jude Parish, Tignish.
