City of Charlottetown accepting applications for new food council advisory board

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The City of Charlottetown is now accepting applications for the food council citizen advisory board.

Charlottetown city council recently passed a resolution to form a food council.
The general mission of the food council is to examine and take actions to improve the operation of the existing food system.
The food council will bring together people with different backgrounds, expertise and perspectives to tackle issues within the food system using an inclusive and collaborative approach.
The food council members will work on community engagement and policy and program development.

The advisory board will be made up of 10 to 12 volunteer members of various backgrounds. Successful applicants will be selected based on their experience working within some aspect of the food system, their ability to demonstrate a genuine interest in sustainability, a good understanding of food security and a desire to contribute to the development of a sustainable food system within the region.
The deadline for applications is June 8 at 4 p.m. Applications can be filled out online at Charlottetown.ca/environment___sustainability/sustainability/programs_and_initiatives/food_council/ or by calling 902-566-5548.
