A CULINARY CHRISTMAS: Chef Chef BobbiJo Maclean's easiest gingerbread cake ever

This is a 60-year-old ginger bread recipe, with a warm whisky butter sauce.

Easiest Gingerbread Cake Ever

1 cup of brown sugar

1/2 cup butter softened

2 cup flour

1 tsp. ginger

1 tbsp. cinnamon

2 tbsp. cocoa

1 tsp. all spice

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tbsp. baking soda

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup molasses

2 eggs

 

-Mix together, lumpy is fine, pour in to desired style of cake pan, bake at 350C until toothpick comes out clean (about 35 min.).

 

Whiskey sauce:

1 cup white sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/2 whipping cream

A pinch of ginger and cinnamon

-Boil 4 minutes on high heat. Add favourite whisky or Frangelico (almond Liqueur) at the end.

-It will boil quickly. Pour over gingerbread cake while sauce is hot.
