Local businessmen Billy MacKendrick, front, and David Bradshaw are part of a new ownership group taking over the establishments formerly known as the Linkletter Restaurant and The Taproom bar in downtown Summerside.

SUMMERSIDE - A new ownership group is taking over management of 311 Market Street, currently known as Lido’s restaurant.

Most locals would know the property best as the former Linkletter Restaurant.

The establishment reopened as Lido’s in April after an extended closure, but it announced recently that it would be closing again as of Aug. 28.

But it won’t be closed long as a new group will be taking over management and reopening the restaurant as early as Sept. 1.

They’re rebranding the business as Local 311.

Two of the new co-owners, David Bradshaw and Billy MacKendrick, said this is an opportunity they’ve been waiting for.

“We’ve been looking now for the last few years to get into business together; we’re all cousins, we all come from restaurant backgrounds,” said MacKendrick.

Patrons can expect some changes to the establishment’s menu, he added, but nothing too drastic.

They are, however, going to focus on locally sourced food and will be open to experimenting with their offerings and listening to feedback the community provides.

While they fine-tune the restaurant aspect of the business, the new owners will also be working towards reopening the bar formerly known as The Taproom, which is below the restaurant.  They expect that process to take about a month and are shooting for an early October opening date.
