Summerside Inn Bed and Breakfast has received an award of excellence from the Australian-based HotelsCombined search company.

HotelsCombined has started an extensive survey covering different types of accommodations in Canada.

The survey is based on gathering data from millions of guest reviews and translating them to an official recognition of excellence.

It’s not a ranking list but a group of outstanding accommodations chosen based on a strict set of criteria. In order to be considered, properties must meet the following criteria.

At the time of judging, a winner is rated 8-10 or more with a minimum of 75 customer reviews.

HotelsCombined couldn’t have detected any major customer service problems not recurring or unresolved issues.

Ken Meister, who owns the Summerside Inn Bed and Breakfast with his wife Jenny, was ecstatic to receive the award.

“We always strive to ensure our guests have an outstanding stay, not only at our Inn but in Summerside and P.E.I. as a whole,’’ Meister said. “While our guests appreciate our hospitality and the warmth that comes from such a historic home, it is their whole experience which is reflected in their reviews.’’

Alberto Castellucchio, market manager of HotelsCombined, said the Summerside Inn is definitely one of the best hotels in Canada.

“What is different about the recognition of excellence is the way information is gathered and analyzed. It all depends on the guest and his or her experience with that particular accommodation,’’ Castellucchio said.
