A decades-old customer service from Purity Dairy is coming to end.
Dairy president Tom Cullen announced today that Friday, May 11 will be the final day for home delivery service.
He said this decision is in response to a noticeable shift in consumer shopping trends and an increasingly competitive environment in the dairy industry.
Most consumers prefer to purchase their Purity products at retail outlets, says Cullen. The decline in demand for home delivery service along with the rising cost of providing the service is becoming more than the company is able to absorb.
There is also increasing pressure at the wholesale level to provide product at the lowest possible price. In an effort to provide the best quality product at a competitive price, I have decided to re-focus our attention and re-direct our resources to serving our customers through wholesale establishments, he said.
Purity Dairy, a Cullen family business, was established over 60 years ago. At one time there were nine small dairies operating on P.E.I., now there are only two small dairies operating east of Montreal; Cooks Dairy in Yarmouth, N.S. and Purity Dairy.
Our success in producing high quality products with superior customer service has given us the competitive advantage to achieve steady growth and attract loyal customers in an increasingly competitive environment, says Cullen. Our steadfast commitment to quality and service will continue, he said.
