CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The federal government is helping bring Atlantic Canada’s largest networking event for start-ups, investors, seasoned entrepreneurs, mentors and service providers to P.E.I. through $100,000 in funding.
The P.E.I. government is adding $25,000 to support Ignition Startup Zone Inc. in hosting Invest Atlantic 2018.
The ninth annual Invest Atlantic will mark the conference’s first trip to Charlottetown, building upon past conferences hosted in Moncton, Halifax and St. John’s.
The conference runs Sept. 19 and 20 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts and Holman Grand Hotel.
During the first day of the conference, up to 40 start-up companies will come together to attend the PitchCamp series of workshops focusing on delivering one and two-minute pitches.
The top companies will then present on the second day and pitch to investors and a crowd of more than 200.
“Events such as Invest Atlantic 2018 bring together startup companies, entrepreneurs and investors, creating the right conditions for people, ideas and capital to connect,’’ said Charlottetown MP Sean Casey.
“The Government of Canada recognizes that innovation is central to Atlantic Canada’s economy and this event will create access to resources and networks needed to achieve success and opportunities for entrepreneurs to accelerate their growth.”
