Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce announces finalists for President’s Excellence Awards

Thirteenth annual awards will be handed out Nov. 14

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Twenty-two finalists have been named for this year’s Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce President’s Excellence Awards, which will be held Nov. 14.

More than 70 organizations were nominated for the 13th annual awards.

An independent panel of six judges adjudicated the submissions and selected three finalists in each category.

“The work from our local businesses over the last year has had great impact on the success of our economy,” said Jennifer Evans, chamber president.

“The President’s Excellence Awards is a night the chamber … its members look forward to every year. It’s an evening that celebrates the dedication, passion, innovation and achievements of greater Charlottetown area businesses.”

The Excellence in Business Award is given to a for-profit business that has been operating for 10 or more years and has demonstrated excellence in all areas of business operations. The 2018 finalists are Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Centennial Auto Group and Seafood Express (P.E.I.)

The Emerging Business Award is presented to a business that has been operating up to five years and has demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation and leadership within their industry. Advanced Extraction Systems, Kaneshii Vinyl Press Ltd. and Radterra (Honey Island Enterprise) are the three finalists in this category.

The Workplace Excellence Award recognizes an organization that, through its innovative human resource practices, provides an exceptional work environment resulting in high employee satisfaction and retention. The category finalists are Target Tours, Cox & Palmer and AquaBounty Canada Inc.

The Export Excellence Award recognizes a business demonstrating significant year-to-year percentage growth in value of export sales. The finalists for this award are Navigate Food Safety Solutions and True North Seafood – Smoked Division.

The Excellence in Customer Service Award recognizes an organization that consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment to customer service and satisfaction. Nominated in this category are The Holman Grand Hotel, Sign Craft and The Great George.

The Not-For-Profit Excellence Award recognizes the accomplishments of an organization in the not-for-profit sector that has an established reputation for delivering a high level of programs and/or devices, a track record of efficient and effective management and strong board governance. Women’s Network P.E.I., Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince Edward Island and The Guild are the three finalists in this category.
