The guest experience manager and concierge of the Great George Hotel in Charlottetown is a finalist for employee of the year at the Canadian Tourism Awards.

Murphy Hospitality Group, which operates the hotel, said Ian Cheverie has been an asset to the success of the Great George over the past number of years and is now recognized as one of the best hospitality employees in Canada.

“Ian goes above and beyond to wow our guests, creating memorable experiences that inspire them to return year after year,’’ said Megan Hunt, general manager of the Great George Hotel. “His passion for our hotel, our industry and our beautiful Island is evident in his delivery of genuine Island hospitality.”
Cheverie received Les Clefs d’Or (golden keys) in December and has won many internal company awards from Murphy Hospitality Group.

The Canadian Tourism Awards are presented by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada and the winners will be awarded in the next few months. The association has more than 400 members and thousands of affiliate members who had the opportunity to submit for these awards.
