Cavendish ‘old-time’ photographers were Best in Show in Las Vegas

CAVENDISH, P.E.I. – A pair of photographers from Grandpa’s Antique Photo Studio in Cavendish were recently named Best in Show in an international contest.

This photo by Jessica MacNeill and Jenna MacFarlane of Grandpa's Antique Photo Studio in Cavendish won Best in Show in the Self Portrait category at the 2017 Antique and Amusement Photographers International Photo Contest, which was held Feb. 1 in Las Vegas. They also received a Technical Excellence Award for the same photo.

Jessica MacNeill and Jenna MacFarlane were selected for the award from more than 300 other entries at the 2017 Antique and Amusement Photographers International (AAPI) Photo Contest, which was held Feb. 1 in Las Vegas.

MacNeill and MacFarlane won Best in Show in the Self Portrait category and also received a Technical Excellence Award for the same photo. 

MacNeill earned a total of nine ribbons, including another first place for her portrait of a child; two third-place ribbons; and three honorable mentions. 

Jessica MacNeill of Grandpa's Antique Photo Studio in Cavendish won a first place ribbon for this portrait of a child at the 2017 Antique and Amusement Photographers International Photo Contest, which was held Feb. 1 in Las Vegas.

Other Grandpa’s Antique Photo Studio photographers also received ribbons. Audra Carrier and Avery Schurman both received honorable mention for their humorous portrait, while Carrier earned a third-place ribbon for her boudoir portrait.

The AAPI photography competition attracts hundreds of entries representing photo studios across the United States, Canada and Europe. AAPI is a professional association for photographers and vendors specializing in souvenir photography including antique or “old-time” photos, special events, historical re-enactments and amusement portraits.
