Island chefs are demonstrating their culinary talents as part of a month-long celebration of Prince Edward Island seafood products.

The Best of Sea culinary competition runs throughout June and features 18 restaurants across the province.

Chefs are vying for $4,000 in prize money and the 2018 Chic Chef of the Year earns the opportunity to compete in the Garland International Chef Challenge at September’s P.E.I. International Shellfish Festival.

There are 10 different seafood species being showcased this year. The promotion was developed to increase awareness and demand for P.E.I.  seafood products and to create new culinary innovation.

The 2017 winner was chef Javier Alarco of Water’s Edge at the Delta Hotel in Charlottetown.
