SUMMERSIDE, PE.I. - An Australian-based meta-search company has recognized the Summerside Inn Bed and Breakfast with a recognition of excellence award.
HotelsCombined has started an extensive survey covering different types of accommodations in Canada.
The survey is based on gathering data from millions of guest reviews and translating them to an official recognition of excellence.
It’s not a ranking list but a group of outstanding accommodations chosen based on a strict set of criteria. In order to be considered, properties must meet the following criteria.
At the time of judging, a winner is rated 8-10 or more with a minimum of 75 customer reviews.
HotelsCombined couldn’t have detected any major customer service problems not recurring or unresolved issues.
Ken Meister, who owns the Summerside Inn Bed and Breakfast with his wife Jenny, was ecstatic to receive the award.
“We always strive to ensure our guests have an outstanding stay, not only at our Inn but in Summerside and P.E.I. as a whole,’’ Meister said. “While our guests appreciate our hospitality and the warmth that comes from such a historic home, it is their whole experience which is reflected in their reviews.’’
Alberto Castellucchio, market manager of HotelsCombined, said the Summerside Inn is definitely one of the best hotels in Canada.
“What is different about the recognition of excellence is the way information is gathered and analyzed. It all depends on the guest and his or her experience with that particular accommodation,’’ Castellucchio said.
CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - It may not seem like it, but spring is just around the corner – a time of new beginnings and new growth. And a good time for those annual checkups we should all look to: a checkup on our vehicles – those pesky but necessary preventive maintenance items; a checkup on ourselves – the yearly physical that is a spring calendar item for many of us; a checkup on our heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems – you wouldn’t want that A/C unit to break down on the hottest summer day; a checkup on our gardens – what survived the winter and what didn’t and a list of plantings for the warm months to come.
CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - It is that time of year when many will be going off for two-weeks in the sun. This is good, and in some cases necessary, especially for those diagnosed with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).
WASHINGTON — Next week's Canadian federal budget will raise concern about workers being displaced en masse by new technologies. It's arguably an under-told story of the last U.S. election — people often talked about Ohio and Pennsylvania's coal miners and steel workers, less so about technologies pushing them aside: automated steel production, and the 3D underground imaging finding cheaper natural gas.
