Two P.E.I. tourism associations are working collaboratively to spread the message to potential visitors that there is still much to experience in September in the central region of Prince Edward Island.

Known as ’30 More Days of Awesome’, the campaign was first initiated by Tourism Cavendish Beach in 2012 to let tourists know that many area tourism operators were still open for business and ready to serve fall visitors.

This year the campaign has gained momentum through involvement from the Central Coastal Tourism Partnership, the regional tourism association responsible for central P.E.I. As a result, this year’s campaign will encompass the entire Central Coastal Region, which includes both the Green Gables Shore and the Red Sands Shore.

In addition to places like Cavendish, Brackley Beach, Stanley Bridge, and New London, the campaign will also be evident this year in locations such as Kensington, Victoria by the Sea, Borden-Carleton, Cornwall and many others.

A number of ‘certified awesome events’ have been identified and will occur at targeted dates throughout September. These themed events will offer visitors unique Island experiences, and many of the ‘certified awesome events’ also feature special promotions available for the month of September only.

These include an Artisan Week, an Everything Anne theme, and a Fun on the Water weekend. There will also be a Retro Weekend featuring the Brackley Drive-In, the Landmark Café and a retro slumber party package from The Gables of P.E.I.

Adventurers will be able to take in the Wild & Wacky theme days, as well as the Adrenaline & Adventure promotion. Sept. 1-7 will feature a Loco for Lobster promotion, with an abundance of operators participating, including the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers, who are promoting a special behind-the-scenes lobster pound tour exclusive to the 30 More Days campaign.

P.E.I.’s strong culinary offerings are also part of the campaign and will showcase the following themes on specific dates: Chocolate Chowdown, Potato Perfection and Wonderful Wines. A number of Fall Flavours events are also being held in the region in September, and these are included in the campaign as well.

Organizers are excited about a new component of the campaign — a ‘Stay and Play A Round’ golf promotion. These packages include a two-night stay, with three rounds of golf at participating courses, and can be booked Monday to Thursday each week in September.

Bob Boyle, is president of the Central Coastal Tourism Partnership, as well as operator of the Brackley Drive-In.

“We’re very pleased that this year’s campaign has grown to include ‘awesome’ experiences’ found within both the Green Gables Shore and Red Sands Shore. Whether it’s culinary offerings, a place to stay, or a unique activity, tourism operators in central P.E.I. still have so much to offer guests this fall. It is an excellent opportunity to build upon the success the campaign has had to date, and to add new offerings to visitors.”
