O'Rourke team defeats Ontario 10-6 to advance to final of Scotties Tournament of Hearts

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Kathy O'Rourke is taking Prince Edward Island to the final of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts for the first time.
After dropping their page playoff game to Jennifer Jones on Friday, P.E.I. will get another shot at Team Canada today in the championship after defeating Ontario's Krista McCarville 10-6 in Saturday night's semifinal. In their round-robin meeting, O'Rourke defeated Jones 9-5 but lost 8-5 in the page playoff.
"We have a score to settle with (Team Canada) I hope," said O'Rourke. "Hopefully we'll have a good game with them."
O'Rourke called the feeling of moving on amazing and noted that the philosophy all along has been to take things one step at a time.
"We tried to think about throwing one shot at a time out there the whole time," said O'Rourke. "When it was over I think we were in a little bit of shock. We're just happy that P.E.I. is in the final because that's what we were fighting for all week and now we're there."
The Jones rink will be gunning for their third straight title.
The loss left the McCarville rink in third, their second third-place finish this year.
"This year is the year of being third," said McCarville. "It's not fun."
She added that despite the third-place finish it's a learning experience.
"You gain lots of experience," said McCarville. "Playing on arena ice is really good. Hopefully it will give us some good experience, hopefully for next year (at the Scotties)."

I think the picture shows how to win these big games - laugh a little, enjoy yourselves on the big stage. Win, lose or draw - you're the best that's ever been from PEI. Way to go!!

If Erin plays as well in the final as she did last night; look out Jennifer Jones! You caught her in a bad game Friday night JJ; hopefully it doesn't happen again. Winning this is all about consistency with the big shots!
    GO PEI GO!!!!!!!!!

Erin's last shot in the 8th, had the right speed to make a count of 2, the stone must have picked up something, it came to a quick halt, Erin had a look of dis-belief, ended team Canada got 2, tough break girls, you're champions as far as I'm concerned

Best peice of advice I can give you is allow yourself to dream a little bit that you are going to win. That may help you a little bit if you find yourself leading.

More pressure on them than you. They have to win. You dont. I'm sure they watched that amazing 93% performance last night. Their book on Erin went right out the window in the 5th end when Erin made The shot of the week .

She's gonna pay for that comment the other night She cant make that double ....... I can barely make it.

I watched the curling match today and I was so proud of the four young women from PEI. They truly showed respect for each other and played extremely well. Someone had to win the game, but it was just by a whisker. PEI players were just as good as the team that took the gold. Silver is nicer anyway girls! I hope they are very proud of what they have accomplished. Good luck to you always.
