After winning a seventh consecutive Dakota Athletic Conference men’s indoor conference title, Souris native Kurt McCormack and his Dickinson State University track team begin the quest for a national title Friday at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics indoor track and field championships in Geneva, Ohio.

At the nationals, McCormack, 22, will compete in triple jump, where he's ranked first going into the event with a top jump of 14.96 metres this season, and long jump, where he’s ranked ninth after qualifying with a jump of 7.13 metres at a meet last month in South Dakota.

At the DAC’s, McCormack finished first in triple jump, first in long jump and first in 4x400 metre men’s relay. That haul earned the senior three conference meet awards: outstanding field athlete, outstanding overall athlete and most valuable senior award.

The men’s long jump, preliminaries and finals, begins today at 6 p.m. AT. The men’s triple jump, preliminaries and finals, starts Saturday at 2:30 p.m. AT.

Dickinson State’s outdoor season begins March 26 in Rapid City, S.D.
