Souris triple jumper Kurt McCormack is red-hot going to the season-ending track and field meet for his Dickinson State Blue Hawks.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics outdoor national track and field championships, which started Thursday, go through Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.
McCormack is seeded third in the triple-jump event.
Last year, McCormack finished third at the NAIA championships with leap of 14.81.
He is also listed on the six-man 4x100-metre relay team.
McCormack, a junior at the North Dakota university, won the triple-jump event at the recent Dakota Athletic Conference outdoor championships in South Dakota with a jump of 13.90.
His team of Cordero Bonamy, Josh Neumiller and Thomas Whyley also won the 4x100-metre men's relay in 42.89.
Already this season, McCormack has four firsts, including a personal-best 15.54 metres, and two seconds in triple jump, a second in the 4x200-metre men's relay and the 4x100-metre relay, and the top relay placing at the event.
He also recent won Sport P.E.I.'s intercollegiate male athlete of the year award.
The Blue Hawks men's team finished first overall at the conference championships while the women placed third.
McCormack's triple-jump event begins Saturday at 2:30 p.m. AT.
The men's relay trials were held on Thursday.
