Tessa Fudge is joining the Holland College Hurricanes women’s soccer team this fall.

Tessa Fudge will join the Holland College Hurricanes women’s soccer team this fall after spending last season with the UPEI Panthers.

The New Ross, N.S., native will be entering the college’s dental assisting program.

“I’m very excited about attending Holland College this fall and I’m ready to learn,” she said.

During the summer she plays for the South Shore United Football Club in Nova Scotia. Fudge was UPEI’s rookie of the year last season, helping the team reach the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship after scoring the winning goal in a game with Acadia.

“Any time you can add a player of Tessa’s calibre you are going to be excited,” said head coach Kris McKinnon. “She brings pace, awareness and a keen ability to score. . . She will step into our program as a leader and a player capable of being a game changer.”

Summerside’s Jill Curley will also be joining the Hurricanes after a year with the Panthers.

The Hurricanes Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season begins on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Fredericton against the St. Thomas Tommies.

“We have our eyes on the ACAA championships and to get back to nationals,” Fudge said.
