Kristyn Visser didn’t play like a rookie in helping her Mount Allison Mounties soccer team to a pair of victories on homecoming weekend.

For her efforts, the Charlottetown native was named the university’s female athlete of the week.

“Kristyn played both this weekend’s games with an authority beyond her experience. Even Sunday, when her senior teammates struggled at times, she stood firmly,” said head coach Barry Cooper.

The five-foot-six Visser plays centre in the Mounties’ defence. She is a former multi-sport athlete from Colonel Gray Senior High School.

A dean’s list student, Visser is currently enrolled in first-year science, specializing in biology. She plans on pursuing a career in physiotherapy or medicine.

The Mounties, who have now won three straight games, defeated St. F.X. 2-1 and Acadia 1-0.
