Hurricanes end season on pitch on strong note

CORNWALL — The Holland College Hurricanes completed their Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA) soccer regular seasons in convincing fashion over the weekend.

The Holland College women outscored their opposition 25-0 in two games, routing the Crandall University Chargers 17-0 and the NSAC Rams 8-0.

The two wins improved the Hurricanes’ record to 8-2-2. Holland College secured a third-place finish, and a berth in this weekend’s ACAA championships.

In the men’s final game of the regular season Saturday, the Hurricanes downed NSAC 5-1.

The Hurricanes will take a 6-3-1 record into this weekend’s ACAA championships.

 

Women

Hurricanes 17 Chargers 0

Sunday, Jillian Durant (5), Jess Gallant (2), Jenn Simmons (2), Jenay Edness, Katherine MacDonald, Katelyn Burridge, Katie Champion, Amanda Trainor, Frankie Gallison, Sarah Hardiman and Emily MacDonald scored for the Hurricanes.

Meaghan Ferguson earned her second shutout in 48 hours.

 

Hurricanes 8 Rams 0

Saturday, Durant (4), MacDonald (2), Simmons and Edness dented the twine for the Hurricanes.

 

Men

Hurricanes 5 Rams 1

Saturday, Evan Forrester (3), Mitchell Schellen and Cory Dando scored for Holland College. Jeremy Walker was the Rams’ lone scorer.
