MONTAGUE - Percy O'Brien is hoping he'll be really busy next week.
It's the countdown to Christmas and the list of needy kids continues to grow.
"It's been OK so far," says the man behind the door of the project tucked away at the curling club here.
"But we've got more kids on the list and I sure hope things get busy for us at the start of the week."
O'Brien is one of the Lions Club members taking care of business for the annual Christmas toy project that helps hundreds of families with providing gifts under the tree. The toy project has been around for the past 40 years helping to brighten a child's face on Christmas morning. Countless volunteers knit and crochet something to wear, while countless other donors drop off a gift for a young girl or boy.
There is also a dropoff box at Stewart and Beck.
"I'd like to say we don't need as much," says O'Brien. "But not this year."
The Lions Club is located at the Montague Curling Club and begins gift distribution to hundreds of families throughout the region a few days before Christmas.
