Lisa Jackson scored an extra-end 7-6 victory Thursday afternoon to open the P.E.I. Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women's curling championship.
The Jackson rink, from the host Charlottetown Curling Complex, led 5-0 after four ends against Montague's Tammy Dewar before giving up points in four of the next five ends.
Jackson opened with a single with the hammer in the first added deuces in the third and fourth ends and a single in the sixth.
Dewar scored singles in the fifth, seventh, eighth, 10th and two in the ninth.
In the other game of the afternoon, Kathy O'Rourke scored singles in the ninth and 10th ends to beat defending champion Kim Dolan rink 7-4 in an all-Charlottetown club contest.
O'Rourke scored deuces in the second and sixth and a single in the seventh while Dolan replied with singles in the fourth and fifth ends and two in the eighth.
The opening ceremony for the five-team event is set for 6:15 p.m.
