Islanders still in the hunt for the Scotties in Alberta

LEDUC, ALTA. — The Crystal Webster rink, with Islanders Erin Carmody and Geri-Lynn Ramsay throwing third and second stones, had a 2-2 record heading into a late game in the Alberta Scotties women’s curling championship here Friday night.

Twelve teams commenced play in the triple-knockout provincial on Wednesday.

The eventual winner earns the right to represent Alberta in the national Scotties next month in Red Deer.

The Webster foursome opened play on Wednesday with an 8-4 loss to Valerie Sweeting. 

They started out Thursday winning 11-3 over Candace Wanechko, before losing to defending champion Shannon Kleibrink 8-6.

Friday morning the Webster team scored an 8-4 victory over Lisa Eyamie. They were scheduled to play Renee Sonnenberg Friday night.

    Are they really still Islanders? I think the headline is deceiving.
