Badminton doubles team fourth at North American Indigenous Games

The under-16 female doubles team of Alyssa-Jo Bernard and MacKenzie Thomas, both of Lennox Island, finished fourth in their division in badminton Sunday at the 2014 North American Indigenous Games in Regina.

Bernard and Thomas lost in three games (19-21, 14-21, 14-21) to the B.C. duo of Courtney Anderson and Julia Bood in the bronze- medal match.

Savannah Guimond of Lennox Island lost in the under-19 female singles quarter-final to Haley Sunshine of Saskatchewan.

Other P.E.I. competitors in badminton were Hannah Arsenault (under-19 female singles) and John Sark (under-19 mixed doubles). Both are from Lennox Island.

Kindra Bernard of Scotchfort was 10th (6.98 metres) in under-19 female shot put.  

Logen Lewis went 1-2 and placed fifth in the 54 kg male wrestling competition.

Results for high jumper Bailey Labobe from Tignish weren't available.

P.E.I. did not win a medal at the Games. B.C. was first with 160 medals while Saskatchewan was second with 159, including a Games-leading 72 gold.
