Big night at the Charlottetown track for Matheson stable

Stayoutofmyaffair, with catch-driver Kenny Arsenault in the bike, won the Thursday night Open Mares pace in 1:57 flat at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Robi Hughes of Stratford was the winning owner.

Veronicavermillion (Brodie MacPhee) found some late racing room in the stretch to finish second while Brodys Leona (Corey MacPherson) came flying home to finish third.

Stayoutofmyaffair paid $17.00 to win with the 5-8-All triactor paying out at $529.50.

Abundaspin and driver Harold Shepherd won the Open Trot in 2:00.1.

The trotter, owned by Mikaela Lustic of Cornwall won his sixth of the season and 77th lifetime victory.

It was a big night for the Matheson stable.

Driver Ron Matheson had two victories with Landed Alien in the P.E.I. BioAlliance Pace and Water Hook in Race 6 while son Jackie picked up a training triple on the card.

The hat trick included a score with Outrageous Spirit for Walter Cheverie.

Touch of Lightning (Earl Smith) and Carnivore (Marc Campbell) matched the fastest mile of the night in a blistering 1:55.4.

Jason Hughes recorded a driving double on the program.
