Jake Kendrick and Chase Bowden each had 22 points to lead to the host Holland College Hurricanes to a
93-57 blowout of the Mount Allison Mounties Sunday in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) men’s basketball.
Alvin Parker had 14 while Eamon Morrisey had nine and Steve Hardy added eight.
Sam Prowse and Alex Chisholm each had 10 for the Mounties.
The Hurricanes (13-4) held quarter leads of 24-12, 56-23 and 70-38. The Mounties fell to 9-9.
The win came a day after losing to the Crandall Chargers 109-93 in Moncton.
Alex MacLeod led the Chargers with 30. Bowden (30), Parker (21) and Kendrick (14) were the Hurricanes top scorers.
Holland College led 31-25 after the first quarter but went to the half trailing 47-42 and to the third down 79-63.
The Chargers lead the conference at 15-2.
Jenea Barrett scored a game-high 19 to lead the Hurricanes to a lopsided 81-48 victory Sunday over the Mounties in ACAA women’s basketball.
Steph Hiltz added 13, Jazlin Barker and Ashley Moss each with 12 and Christina Medley 11. Brooke Kelly and Maddyson McDonald each had 11 for the Mounties.
The Hurricanes held quarter leads of 24-8, 46-20, 66-33 and 81-48.
Holland College improved to 15-2.
The Hurricanes also doubled the Chargers 71-35 on Saturday.
Barrett had 11 and Medley 10 in the victory while Jillian Smith had 10 for the Chargers.
The Hurricanes jumped out to a 26-9 lead after the first quarter and extended the lead to 35-19 at halftime and 56-28 going to the fourth.
The Hurricanes host UNBSJ Saturday for games at 6 (women’s) and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 (women’s) and 4 p.m.
