Tigers down Panthers in AUS women's basketball

Courtney Thompson scored 23 points to lead the Dalhousie Tigers to a 65-58 victory Friday over the UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women’s basketball action.

Tessa Stammberger added 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks for the Tigers.

Amy Gough led the Panthers with 20 points, nine rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists while Laura Power and Tamara Tompkins each had eight points.

The host Tigers led 19-12 after the first but trailed 32-30 at the half. Dalhousie outscored UPEI 20-13 in the third quarter and 15-13 in the fourth.

The Panthers hit on 37 per cent of their 54 shots while the Tigers hit 32 per cent of their 65 shots.

UPEI is 7-8 while Dalhousie is 7-6. The teams play Saturday at 2 p.m.
