UPDATED: Hurricanes win conference basketball title

The Holland College men's basketball Hurricanes has won its first Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association championship.

The Hurricanes beat the St. Thomas Tommies 70-61 Sunday in Fredericton.

The Hurricanes had a strong push to end the first half to lead 37-22 over the host and defending champions.

Through the first 20 minutes, Leo Morris leads the way with 10 points for the Hurricanes, while Alvin Parker has six points and seven assists.

For St. Thomas, Calvin Leblanc leads with six points while Lonzel Lowe has four points and five rebounds.
