Panthers lose to CIS's second-ranked women's basketball team

Justine Colley had 36 points to lead the Saint Mary’s Huskies to an 86-66 victory Saturday over the UPEI Panthers in university women’s basketball action.

The country’s second-ranked Huskies built a 12-point lead after the first quarter and increased it to 24 at the half. After being outscored 23-16 in the third, the Panthers won the fourth by nine.

Nakita Newman had 17 off the bench to lead the Panthers while Jenna Jones added nine. Amy Gough had seven rebounds, five steals, four assists and four points.

Lindsay Panchan had 14 for the Huskies.

The Panthers fall to 2-10 while the Huskies improve to 13-0.

UPEI is in Sydney, N.S. Friday to play Cape Breton and travels to Antigonish Saturday to St. F.X.
