Tim Kendrick has added a new player he is very familiar with to his UPEI Panthers hoops squad.
The head coach announced Wednesday his son Joe will suit up for the Panthers this fall.
The six-foot-four guard/forward was the Brock Badgers rookie of the year during their national championship run in 2008. He played last season with his younger brother Jake at C Crandall University. He was fifth in the country in scoring in the college league and was named the Atlantic conference MVP.
“He has won championships at the high school and CIS levels, and will bring a wealth of “big game” experience and leadership to the team,” Kendrick said.
Joe said he is excited to play for his father again. He played high school ball for his father at Horton in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia and is looking forward to being a Panther.
“It’s exciting to be at a school with a basketball program that holds high expectations for its players,” he said. “I’ll do whatever it takes to help the team achieve great success, both on and off the court.”
