The Summerside Storm is back on the winning track after defeating the Oshawa Power 101-100 on the road Thursday night. The Storm squeaked out a win over the Power at the GM Centre in Oshawa, Ont.

This was the Summerside team’s first win in eight games in the National Basketball League of Canada.

Mike Williams was again the driving force behind the Storm sinking 24 points for his team. The high scoring guard Eric Gilchrese was the second highest point-getter for the Summerside team with 16 points on the night.

Al Stewart and forward Louie McCroskey each picked up 14 points. Newcomers Troy Jackson had 11 points and Stefan McDowell had seven.

The Storm now has six wins and 10 losses which places them fifth in league standings, just ahead of Oshawa (6-12).

The Power was leading in the first quarter 25-20. However, in the second, the Storm tightened up defense and matched the Power in scoring with a 26-26 round. They managed to outscore the Power in the third and fourth quarter.

The Storm returns home to play New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m. at Credit Union Place.
