The Charlottetown Driving Park will play host to another big card of racing tonight featuring Governor’s Plate starter Formal Affair in the $2,200 top class in Race 11. Post time is 6 p.m.

Formal Affair, who finished third in Plate 43 at Summerside, drew Post 8 for driver Mark Bradley, trainer David Rose and owners Dale and Ronnie Rennie of Elmsdale.

Rose has the six-year-old son of Real Desire in top form after sitting seventh at the head of the lane in last week’s big race before closing to finish third.

It was a classic case of being blocked late in the mile and not able to find racing room until it was too late. Bradley will have to engineer at trip from the outside post and stop challenges from rail-sitter Riccaras Sun (Gary Chappell) and Roscoes Child (Brodie MacPhee).

The three horses were established as the top three contenders when the morning lines were posted.

The lineup includes Life Savior (pp2), Blue Star Outlaw (pp3), Modern Mojo (pp5), Oakrock Almighty (pp6) and Sombrero Blue Chip (pp7).

There are some other highlights on the card including Brenda Rose as the favourite in the MacPhail Reunion Pace in Race 6 while Camcun is the early choice in the Morell and Area 4H Club Pace.

The Pick 6, Gold Cup Patio Party draws, Wild Horses and the new Celebrity Poker tournaments at Summerside and Charlottetown are all underway this weekend.

Racing returns on Monday night to the CDP. Post time is 7 p.m.
