Western to face Kensington

CHARLOTTETOWN – It will be the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings and Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers in the Island Junior Hockey League championship series.

Chasse Gallant’s goal at 1:15 of overtime gave the Red Wings a 3-2 series-clinching win over the Sherwood-Parkdale Metros on Wednesday night. The Red Wings, who also received goals from Benji Gaudet (1-2) and Cole Hackett (1-1), won the best-of-seven series 4-2.

Curtis McGregor and Harrison Wood replied for the Metros.

Winning goaltender was Chris Gallant, and Daniel Nicholson was between the pipes for the Metros.

The Vipers, who eliminated the Montague Maniacs in a five-game semifinal series, are expected to host Game 1 of the best-of-seven final at Community Gardens on Sunday night.
