Crucial Game 5 in Abram-Village on Friday

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Sherwood-Parkdale Metros have bounced back.

The Metros, after losing the first two games 5-0 and 8-1, have rebounded with two straight wins to tie the best-of-seven Island Junior Hockey League semifinal series with the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings at 2-2.

The Metros evened the series with a 5-3 win on Wednesday night, setting the stage for a crucial Game 5 at the Evangeline Recreation Centre in Abram-Village on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Two goals

At the Cody Banks Arena, Taylor Runighan and Tanner MacLean each scored two goals while Tanner Lund added a single to account for the Sherwood-Parkdale goals. Patrick Cummiskey (2), Harrison Wood and Cody McPhee chipped in with assists.

Jason Gallant (2) and Calvin McRae countered for the Red Wings, who led 1-0 after the opening period and trailed 3-2 following 40 minutes. Single helpers were credited to Spencer Groom, Cole Hackett and Logan Smallman.

Daniel Nicholson recorded the goaltending win, and Bradley Shea was between the pipes for Western.

Referees Steve Dyer and Tim Hamel called nine minors against the Red Wings while the Metros were whistled for five minors and one double minor for roughing.
