Game 3 in O’Leary on Friday

CORNWALL – Ryan Richards held the hot hand for the Mid-Isle Matrix on Tuesday night.

Richards, who was set up by Josh MacDonald, scored his second goal of the game in the first overtime period to give the Matrix a 3-2 win over the Prince County Warriors. The best-of-five P.E.I. Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League championship series is now tied 1-1, with Game 3 at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre on Friday at 8:15 p.m.

At the APM Centre, the Matrix led 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 following the second.

Zack Wilson also scored for Mid-Isle, which received assists from MacDonald (3) and Richards.

Bennett MacArthur (1-1) and Ethan Beaulieu answered for the Warriors. Colby MacArthur and Nick Reeves also assisted.

Jonah Arbing earned the goaltending win, and Chad Arsenault was between the pipes for Prince County.

Each team was assessed three minor penalties.
