Sherwood-Parkdale picks up big road win

ABRAM-VILLAGE – The Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros are right back in the best-of-seven Island Junior Hockey League semifinal series with the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings.

The Metros picked up a 4-2 road win at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Sunday night to cut the Red Wings’ series lead to 2-1. The Metros will look to pull even in Game 4 at the Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

The Red Wings and Metros were scoreless after one period, and tied 1-1 following 40 minutes.

Pat Cummiskey (1-1), Tanner Lund, Curtis McGregor and Harrison Wood dented the twine for the Metros. Connor Smith (2), Will Connolly, Lucas Holmes and Tanner MacLean set up the goals.

Nathan Ellis and Willie Gaudet answered for the Red Wings. Calvin McRae, Jason Gallant and Logan Smallman set up the goals.

Daniel Nicholson picked up the goaltending win, and Chris Gallant tended goal for Western.
