MacArthur nets three points

O’LEARY – The Prince County Warriors have jumped out in front of the Mid-Isle Matrix in the P.E.I. Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League championship series.

The Warriors posted a series-opening 5-1 win on home ice at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre on Sunday evening. The Matrix will look to bounce back in Game 2 at the APM Centre in Cornwall on Tuesday at 7:40 p.m. Game 3 is back in O’Leary on Friday at 8:15 p.m.

Offensively, Bennett MacArthur had two goals and an assist to pace the Warriors, who received single goals off the sticks of Colby MacArthur (1-1), Stephen Smallwood and Austin Callaghan. Bradley Campbell (2), Nick Reeves (2), Caleb Dawson and Ed McNeill had assists.

Josh MacDonald, assisted by Ryan Richards, netted the lone Matrix tally.

The Warriors built period leads of 2-1 and 4-1.

Chad Arsenault recorded the goaltending win. Jonah Arbing was between the pipes for Mid-Isle.
