Five different players score

CRAPAUD – The Southside Lynx struck first in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League final series on Saturday night.

Five different players scored for the Lynx in a 5-4 win over the Belfast Sabres at the South Shore Actiplex. Game 2 in the best-of-seven series is in Belfast on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Affiliated player Garrett Murray (1-2), Colton Dawson (1-2), Brady VanderVelden (1-1), Ryan Beckingham and Alex MacLeod scored for the Crapaud-based Lynx. Brandon Green, Logan Vandervelden and Michael Lawless drew single assists.

Keirsten Steele, Tanner Power, Jordan Roche and Jordan Hambly countered for the Sabres, who received assists from Curtis Martell (2), Matthew Glover and Evan Feehan.

The Sabres jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period, and the teams went into the second intermission tied 3-3.

Jordan Zember earned the goaltending win, and Nolan Compton took the loss.
