Matrix, Warriors gain momentum with bantam AAA playoffs wins

Zach Wilson's goal almost nine minutes into overtime gave the Mid-Isle Matrix a 4-3 win over the Eastern Express in P.E.I. Irving Oil Bantam AAA Hockey League playoff action Thursday in Crapaud.

The win tied the best-of-five semifinal 1-1. Game 3 is tonight, at 8:10 p.m., in Pownal.

Nathan Mahar, Jordan Spence and Josh MacDonald had regulation goals for Mid-Isle, while Landon Clow chipped in two assists.

Mid-Isle led 3-1 midway through the third period until two Express goals by Owen MacNeil tied the game 3-3.

Zac Arsenault had the other Express marker.

Jonah Arbing earned the win over Logan Birt.

Meanwhile, the Prince County Warriors took a 2-0 series lead over the Central Attack with 5-3 win Thursday in Charlottetown.

Bennett MacArthur (2-1) led the way while Ethan Beaulieu (1-1), Chase Gaudette (1-1) and Bradley Campbell added the other goals.

Josh Dow (1-1), Keiran Gallant and Kennedy Gallant netted the Attack markers. Seth Morris added two assists.

Cole Gallant had the win over Alex Condon.

Game 3 was Friday in O'Leary.
