QMJHL: MacKinnon scores as Rimouski downs Armada

Former Islanders forward Laplante helps lead Olympqiues past Drakkar

Alexandre Grise had the eventual winner 30 seconds into the third period as the Rimouski Oceanic sailed past the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5-2 Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

Samuel Laberge and Summerside native Carson MacKinnon also scored in the third period for Rimouski (33-22-6). Tyler Boland and Dylan Montcalm had goals earlier in the game.

MacKinnon has six goals and six assists in 58 games in his rookie season in the QMJHL.

Kristian Pospisil and Remy Anglehart replied for the Armada (22-31-8).

Olympiques 7 Drakkar 2

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. - Former Charlottetown Islanders forward Yan-Pavel Laplante and Alexandre Carrier had two goals apiece as the Gatineau Olympiques routed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 7-2.

Vitalii Abramov, Chiwetin Blacksmith and Alex Breton rounded out the attack for the Olympiques (42-17-3). Mathieu Bellemare made 11 saves for the win.

Vincent Deslauriers and Jamey Lauzon responded for the Drakkar (10-45-5). Goaltender Antoine Samuel stopped 33 shots for Baie-Comeau.

Gatineau went 3-for-5 on the power play and the Drakkar could not score on their four man advantages.


HALIFAX - The Mooseheads stormed back with four consecutive power-play goals to down Acadie-Bathurst.

Jocktan Chainey and Maxime Fortier both scored early in the second period for Halifax (19-36-7), followed by goals from Connor Moynihan and Ilya Putintsev in the third.

Guillaume Brisebois was the lone scorer for the Titan (24-30-6), who have lost three straight.
