SHERBROOKE, Que. - Daniel Audette scored into an empty net for the Sherbrooke Phoenix on Friday night and ended any chance of the Charlottetown Islanders stretching its winning streak to six games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Sherbrooke downed the Islanders 4-2.
Kevin Gilbert pounded on a rebound earlier in the third period and put it past Charlottetown goaltender Mason McDonald to put the Phoenix up 3-2.
Guillaume Gauthier and Julien Pelletier added the other Sherbrooke goals.
Alexis Vanier and Mitchell Balmas replied for the Islanders (28-25-5-2).
Not long before Audette scored into the empty nail, Islanders' Daniel Sprong fired as shot that hit the crossbar.
The Islanders outshot Sherbrooke 31-22.
The Islanders are back in action today at 5 p.m. when they visit Shawinigan.
