Hurricanes, Blazers tangle in double shot of hockey action

The Holland College Hurricanes women's hockey team returns to action in a weekend double-dip versus the UNB Blazers in Fredericton, N.B.

Saturday's game starts and 3 p.m. while Sunday's contest goes at noon.

The Hurricanes (6-1-1) lead the Eastern Canadian Women's Hockey League while UNB is third at 3-2-2. In two meetings on P.E.I., the squads tied 1-1 and the 'Canes won 4-3.

Holland College's Alyssa Ferguson and Dylynn Barbour lead the league's scoring race with 10 points. Alison Squires leads the league in goals (six) while Riley Koughan leads in assist (seven).

'Canes goaltenders Kara Mason (2-1-1, 0.75 goals-against average) and Jennie Underwood (4-0, 2.00 GAA) sit near the top of all league statistical categories.

Offensive leaders for UNB are Tasha Dickinson, Corey O'Brien and Gisele Rudderham, who each have five points, while goaltender Isabelle Vienneau is 2-0-2 with a 1.25 GAA.

The Hurricanes finish the regular season against Cape Breton University March 5 and 6 in Nova Scotia.
