Charlottetown Islanders forward Jake Coughler goes down and Baie-Comeau Drakkar defenceman Yan Aucoin loses his stick after they chased down a rebound off Drakkar goalie Antoine Samuel Friday at the Eastlink Centre.
Samuel Blais had three goals and an assist Friday to lead the Charlottetown Islanders to a 5-2 victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play.
Daniel Sprong and Jake Coughler also scored for the Islanders at the Eastlink Centre.
Kameron Kielly and Filip Chlapik each had two assists while Luc Deschenes, Andrew Smith, Sprong and Coughler all added one.
Jamey Lauzon and Eric Leger scored unassisted goals for Baie-Comeau.
Matthew Welsh made 16 saves for the win while Antoine Samuel stopped 28 shots in the loss.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period while Charlottetown took a 3-1 lead to the third period.
The game was delayed late in the third period to deal with a logo issue on the ice. The game was eventually called.
Charlottetown improved to 24-24-5-2 while Baie-Comeau falls to a league-worst 8-40-1-2.
The Islanders host the Chicoutimi Sagueens Saturday at 7 p.m.
