The Mid-Isle Matrix built a three-goal edge and hung on for a 6-5 win over the Kings County Kings in P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League action Sunday in Souris.

The separating factors were Mid-Isle's three-goal second period and its two third-period goals which constructed enough of a barrier to hold off the Kings third-period rally.

Daniel Collister (2), Garrett Murray (1-2), Tanner Hood (1-2), Brandon Watts (1-1) and Zac MacKay had the Mid-Isle goals. CJ McCardle chipped in two assists.

Eddie Jenkins (2-1), Jaysen Verreault (1-1), Jacob MacEachern (1-1) and Matthew MacLaren netted the Kings markers.

Nathan Cahill had two helpers.

Jean-Luc Duguay earned the win over Jed Walsh.

The Matrix went 2-for-5 on the power play. Kings County was 0-for-5 with the extra man.

Also Sunday, the Western Regals blanked the Summerside Hemphill GM Capitals 2-0 in Alberton on scores by Brayden Handrahan and Isaac Callaghan.

Goaltenders Bronson Banks and Colin Gaudette combined for the shutout win.

Jaxon Lamont was tagged with the loss.

Neither team had a power-play goal in a combined 12 chances.
