Mason McDonald made 39 saves for the shutout Saturday as the Charlottetown Islanders beat the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 3-0 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Jake Coughler scored all three goals at the Eastlink Centre. Samuel Blais had two assists while singles went to Alexis Vanier, Will Thompson and Kameron Kielly. Charlottetown native Daryl MacCallum made 24 saves in the loss.
The game was scoreless after the first period while the Islanders led 1-0 heading to third despite being outshot 17-5 in the second period.
The Islanders improved to 21-22-5-2 while the Screaming Eagles fall to 24-22-4-1.
