Ellis makes AHL all-star game roster

East Bideford's Morgan Ellis will play in the AHL all-star game.

The 23-year-old defenceman was one of a number of additions announced on Tuesday to the all-star lineup. The classic will take place Sunday and Monday in Syracuse, N.Y.

Ellis has 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points in 42 games this season for the St. John's IceCaps, the Montreal Canadiens farm team.

The Habs drafted him in the fourth round (117th overall) in 2010.

He played for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and was part of the 2012 Memorial Cup-winning Shawinigan Cataractes with fellow Island blue-liner Brandon Gormley.

The all-star classic will also include former Charlottetown Islanders defenceman Ryan Graves, a Yarmouth, N.S., native.
