Vipers, Wings wear out opposing goalies in IJHL wins

Scoring wasn't an issue Sunday in the Island Junior Hockey League as the Arsenault's Fish Mart Red Wings thumped the Kent Coyotes 6-1 and Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers out-gunned the A&S Scrap Metal Metros 8-3.

The Red Wings-Koyotes matchup was an interlocking game with the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League.

Red Wings 6, Koyotes 1

In Abram-Village, Nathan Ellis (2), Chasse Gallant and Jason Gallant scored in the second period and gave the Red Wings a 5-1 lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Gallant scored earlier in the first frame and Abel Arsenault chipped in a third-period goal for the Wings, which outshot Kent 40-29.

Jeremie Albert netted the lone Kent marker in the first.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first. The Wings led 5-1 at the second intermission.

Chris Gallant earned the win over Samuel Query.

Vipers 8, Metros 3

The Vipers tallied six goals during the first two periods and cruised to the victory in Kensington.

Brian Kelly (1-1), Spencer McAllister, Spencer Sherren, Campbell Gallant (2) and Tanner MacGuigan (1-1) did the honours during that span while Spencer Francis (1-1) and Jonathan Richards (1-3) netted scores in the third.

Drew Grady and Ryan Murray each chipped in two assists.

Kensington led 3-1 after the first and 6-2 at the second intermission. Neither team score on the power play in a combined seven chances.

The Vipers outshot the Metros 48-37.

Lucas Holmes, Taylor Runighan and Tanner McLean had the Metros scores.

Cameron Visser tallied the win over Daniel Nicholson.
