The Holland College Hurricanes women's hockey team begins the 2016 portion of their season on the road this weekend.
The Hurricanes (4-0) lead the Eastern Canadian Women's Hockey League after wins over the Cape Breton Capers and Axewomen (3-2-1) prior to the holiday break.
Saturday's game will begin at 9 p.m. while Sunday's contest begins at 12:45 p.m. Both games are played at the Acadia University Arena.
A year ago the 'Canes struggled to a 1-10-1 record in their second full season in the league, however, the start of the 2015-16 season has proved to be a turnaround for the program.
The Hurricanes hold the top six positions in the league's scoring race with Alison Squires and Riley Koughan leading the way. Alyssa Ferguson, Dylynn Barbour, Samantha Woodworth and Ashley Lunn round out the top-six.
Goaltenders Kara Mason and Jennie Underwood have split the duties to start the season. Both goalies have recorded a shutout while Mason's goals-against average is 0.50 and leads the league with Underwood sitting second at 2.00.
The Hurricanes will play their next home game on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 8:15 p.m. at the Credit Union Place in Summerside and Sunday, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. Both games are against the University of New Brunswick.
