Caps contain Regals in weekend midget AAA play

The Charlottetown Brighton Construction Abbies tripled the Kings County Kings 6-2 in P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League action Saturday in Charlottetown.

Three goals, thanks to Gavin Hickey, Chris Sear and Andrew Campbell, in the third period did the trick. Sear and Campbell scored earlier in the game as well.

Jack Miller had the other Abbies score, while Kelly Barnett and Ryne MacIsaac each chipped in two assists.

The game was scoreless after the first period. Charlottetown led 3-2 after two periods.

Ava Boutilier tallied the win over Jed Walsh.

Also Saturday, the Summerside Hemphill GM Capitals handled the Western Regals 4-1 in Alberton.

Brolin Turner scored twice in the first for the Caps and Mac Buchanan and Alec MacKinnon scored in the second to secure the win.

Silas Handrahan, from Brayden Arsenault and Tyson Arsenault, netted the Regals lone marker.

Neither team scored on the power play in eight combined chances.

Koby Bridges tallied the victory over Colin Gaudette.

Summerside led 2-0 after one frame and 4-0 at the second intermission.
