Vipers, Red Wings offences roll in IJHL victories

The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers and the Arsenault's Fish Mart Red Wings each notched six goals in Island Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.

Kensington out-dueled the Montague Pizza Delight Maniacs 6-4 in Kensington, while the Red Wings outmuscled the A&S Scrap Metal Metros 6-1 in Abram-Village

The Vipers (14-4-1) and the Red Wings (11-5-1) sit first and second in the league.

Vipers 6, Maniacs 4

Tanner MacGuigan scored three times and added an assist in leading the Vipers to the home ice win.

MacGuigan netted the eventual game-winning goal and an insurance goal in the third period.

Ryan Kelly (1-1), Jonathan Richards (1-1) and Nick Bouchey had the other Vipers markers, while Easton Smith chipped in two assists.

Kensington outshot Montague 39-38 and went 2-for-3 on the power play in a game close throughout.

Montague led 2-1 after the first period. Kensington took a 4-3 edge into the third.

Johnathan Arsenault (2), Logan Toole (1-1) and Damon MacDonald (1-1) netted the Maniacs scores.

Grant Grady earned the goaltending win over Matt Derry.

Red Wings 6, Metros 1

The Wings lit the red lamp three times in the first period and cruised to the victory over the visiting Metros.

Benji Gaudet (1-2), Cole Hackett (1-2) and Chasse Gallant (1-1) did the honours in the first, while Willie Gaudet (1-1), Logan Smallman (1-1) and Brandon Williams scored over the next two frames.

Jason Gallant chipped in two assists for the Wings, which led 3-0 after the first and 4-0 at the second intermission.

Patrick Cummiskey, assisted by Lucas Holmes and Kyle Koughan, had the lone Metros goal.

The Wings outshot the Metros 39-25 and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Metros went 0-for-3 with the extra man.

Bradley Shea earned the win over Daniel Nicholson.
