UPEI Panthers

Brent Andrews scored with 13 seconds left in regulation Sunday to give the UPEI Panthers a 4-3 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies in exhibition hockey action.

Marcus Power scored twice, including once on a penalty shot, and Mason Wilgosh once for the Panthers. Stephen MacInnis, Nelson Armstrong, Andrews and Wilgosh each had an assist.

Stratford’s Spencer MacDonald, Rankyn Campbell and Matt MacLeod replied with goals for St. Thomas.

The game was scoreless after the first period and tied 2-2 heading to the third. Power scored with 1:44 left, MacLeod tied it with 54 seconds remaining and Andrews won it 41 seconds later.

Matt Mahalak made 22 saves on 24 shots while Connor Wilkinson stopped eight of nine shots in 20 minutes of work. Luke Lee-Knight and Tyson Teichmann each allowed two goals in splitting time in the Tommies crease.

The Panthers (8-6-1) host the St. F.X. X-Men (11-2-2) on Friday and Dalhousie Tigers (4-9-2) on Saturday to begin the 2016 portion of the Atlantic University Sport regular season. Games times are 7 p.m.
